Clearing stubborn clogs

If a plunger is not doing it, the clog may be deeper in the toilet or the drain line. We clear it with a toilet auger without damaging the porcelain, and check whether the problem is the toilet or the main drain. If several fixtures are backing up, the issue is likely the main line.

Fixing running and leaking toilets

Running toilets are usually caused by a worn flapper, fill valve or flush valve. A leak at the base usually means the wax ring has failed, which can damage the subfloor and ceiling below if left alone. These are quick repairs that save water and prevent damage.

Toilet replacement

When a toilet is cracked, constantly clogging or very old, replacement is often the better choice. Modern high-efficiency toilets use far less water per flush and still clear waste well.
